On Wednesday Oct 3rd six classic blues tracks were recorded in Tommy McEwan’s new Bentleigh studio. Each one is an example of a particular blues style. Master Blues identities Louis King and Dai Jones were on drums and guitar aided by my favourite bass player Mikki Zed covering the bottom end. There will be first second and third position harp on five tracks plus chromatic on the sixth. Add vocals by Louis, Jonesy, John Hawes and myself plus several different rhythms to the mix and we’ll have a fun and instructional CD to enjoy.
Students will get a copy without the harmonicas to develop their own solos.
I’II let you know when it’s a go.

Thanks for the Site, interesting reading and good profile for a wonderful instrument. I would be interested to know what Chris Wilsons set up is at the moment, he’s always produced a kick arse sound. Ive been using a Harp Gear 50 watt with a shure 57 mic and marshall distortion effects. We play at a fairly high volume so attempting to cook the vavles is a problem which at times can lead to feedback. I’m not quite there regarding a traditional chicago sound. I’ve been playing for over 35 years so I’m not to worried about technique but rather the required sound quality. Generally not into clean.
Can’t wait to hear them!
Cool Matt, we’re workin’ on it as fast as…
